You have decided that you want to get a tattoo but your not quiet sure what kind of tattoo to get. Should you get something tribal? How about some new age saying in Chinese? Or maybe you just want something cute.

In my search for a statistic on tattoo regret, I could not find any consistent number. It ranged from 50% up to 80%. But don't let these numbers scare you. With that in mind, here are some suggestions for finding a tattoo that you will not regret later.
What are your hobbies or passions? What do you do you like to do when you have free time? Get a tattoo that represents this. My only advice here would be to steer clear or any trademark brand names.

Has there been a defining accomplishment in your life? It could be your marriage; the birth of your child; or a physical accomplishment such as a marathon or a mountain climb.

Is there a family member or a place that you have lived that had an impact on you?
Tribal tattoos are the accessory tattoo. But they convey a sense of pride and of power, of being part of something bigger than ourselves.

Lastly, stay away from cute, cool or trendy; especially if it is on a highly visible body part. Trust me on this. Cute, cool, or trendy at 25, is not cute, cool or trendy at 35 or 45.

Don't rush into getting any tattoo. Remember, they are permanent. Your tattoo should represent a part of you. It should be personal and tell a story of a small part of your life. It is a part of you that is being put on display and there is always going to be someone that is going to want to know about it.
