The striking fact of the 2006 study is that while just 31 per cent were men, women comprised 69 per cent who were seeking for tattoo removal. The study shows about one-fifth of tattooed women were dissatisfied with their tattoo. The main reason behind their dissatisfaction have been suffering embarrassment, lowering of body image, getting a new job or career, and experiencing stigma.
